Nick Liadis was one of the artists in the show. His piece explored the relationship between sound, music, space, and architecture. Three directional speakers, each fitted with a parabolic shield and mounted to the ceiling, directed and focused a piece of music, creating invisible columns of sound with distinct boundaries. A binary was created: clear, legible music beneath the parabolic shield, but a homogeneous soundscape outside of the shield. Hanging strings gave visual presence to the volume of the room, delineating where the music was overlapping. Three pieces of music created the artwork: Spem in Alium (40-part motet) by Thomas Tallis, Mysterious Mountain by Alan Hovhaness, and Partita for Double String Orchestra by (Ralph Vaughan Williams.
